As a born & bred Yeovilian I have been working at Laceys since 1981 having joined the Firm straight after College.
Qualifying as a Chartered Surveyor I became involved in the Lettings industry back in 1985 and have inevitably seen many changes over the years with the rise in popularity of the Rental and Buy to Let market. Despite the time involved in the business I still relish the opportunity to be able to help people find their chosen home.
Outside of work I am a Member of the Yeovil Rotary Club and recently held the position of President, and with whatever other spare time is available relish the joys of triathlon.
I joined Laceys in 2002, the fast pace of the letting department suits me well. Carrying out valuations and viewings are one of the best bits for me as I love to meet people, it’s been said ‘I can talk the hind legs off a donkey’.
With a husband and two young children I have little spare time but when I do, I love to socialise with friends and see a show. One of my many nick names in the office is ‘Judith Chalmers’ as I have a passion for travel and adventure.
With over 10 years’ experience, I take responsibility for the tenant applications and ensuring a smooth transaction from the viewing to the move in day, as well as the day to day tasks of working in a vibrant and busy office. In my spare time I love to do Pilates and to run and have entered several half marathons and charity races.

I started my career as a trainee building surveyor in an independent building consultants in Glasgow, graduating from Glasgow Caledonian University in the summer of 2016. In late 2016 I moved to Devon, where I worked as a property manager in Exeter, specialising in student accommodation.
Having joined the team at the start of 2018, I have shown an aptitude for schedules of condition and is looking forward to what the future holds for me here at Laceys.
As a treat to myself, I travelled to Thailand last autumn - my first holiday in six years! - where I trekked with elephants and wandered the famous Saturday night Walking Street market in Chiang Mai.
When I'm not working, I spend my time with my beloved spaniel, Bailey, exploring our new home on the outskirts of Yeovil.
I joined Laceys at the beginning of 2019 after relocating from the Midlands.
I have over 13 years’ estate agency experience, and enjoy all aspects of the industry.
My role here is quite varied, but my main responsibilities are carrying out quarterly inspections and dealing with the repairs and maintenance of our rental properties.
In my spare time I enjoy spending time with my husband, spoiling my dogs and going to the beach.
Sales and Lettings Administrator
I started with Laceys in January 2015 with the sales team. One of my roles is the administration of sales documents, advertising and to meet and greet people as they come into Laceys office. Recently I have also taken over a role in accounts looking after all rental payments and liaising with tenants if there are any issues concerning these matters.
At home, I live with my long term partner and two teenagers, so life is busy and interesting! The small spare time I have I enjoy running and Pilates. If I can, I also enjoy cooking which is most appreciated by all the family… I hope!!

I have lived in South Somerset all my life and was educated at Queens College in Taunton. I started my career in estate agency working for a firm of chartered surveyors in the same county town. Having worked in both the corporate and independent sectors I successfully opened my own property business in 1999 covering all aspects of residential estate agency including sales and lettings, financial services, property auctions, tenders (both formal & informal) and probate work. The business flourished and after various approaches the final property portfolio was sold in 2014.
Married with 4 daughters family life is busy. Rugby is one of my passions and I try and support the West Country teams when I can. I also still manage a small private portfolio of commercial and residential property.
My main role at Laceys is carrying out property valuations on the sales side of the business, I especially enjoy meeting people and seeing lots of interesting property. Despite many changes to the UK property market in recent years one constant has been Laceys’ traditional values which underpin our very modern and innovative agency service. The reason we are one of the longest established independent firms in South Somerset is because we pride ourselves on good customer care, which is the cornerstone of our business.
If you are considering moving we would be delighted to value your home and discuss our unique marketing service, free and without obligation.
I am a very experienced and pivotal member of the team, having worked in estate agency locally for over 10 years. I pride myself on my organised, diligent and straight-talking approach and enjoy dealing with all aspects of the business from viewings to valuations, but have a real flair for trouble-shooting and being a shoulder to cry on when things get tricky.
I live in one of the local villages with my husband and young son, where I enjoy getting involved in community projects when I have some spare time!
I have varied experience in the industry having started as an apprentice four years ago within corporate estate agency and quickly working my way up the ranks. Having grown up in Somerset, I have extensive knowledge of the local area and the property market, leaving you in good hands whether you are buying or selling!
I enjoy socializing with my friends in my spare time, and spending time with my family going on muddy dog walks!
David MacLauchlan BSc (Hons) MRICS
Managing Director, Chartered Surveyor
I started my property career in 1994 as a junior Sales Negotiator in Chard, soon progressing to Yeovil to head-up the Sales Department of David Lacey Estate Agents at the tender age of 22. During an eight year spell in Yeovil, I studied successfully for my BSc in Estate Management degree at Reading University. In 2003 I commenced my on-the-job Chartered Surveyor training with the Valuation Office Agency in Exeter, gaining Membership of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors in 2005. Following a spell in Taunton for a well-known regional firm of surveyors, I was head-hunted for a surveyor/commercial agency role in Yeovil, which resulted in the formation of RMW Surveyors LLP in 2008. In 2011 the opportunity arose for me to return to Laceys, ultimately to replace David Lacey himself in 2012.
Whilst continuing to undertake professional work, predominantly to support the Sales and Lettings business streams, I also have a very hands-on daily presence in the office. Whilst my fully in-house team have a great deal of autonomy, I am always available to provide support and advice, ensuring that all our clients and customers are treated fairly and the business is a success. If you’re a prospective Vendor or Landlord, come and see what makes Laceys so different from our competition – we really do pride ourselves in the levels of customer care we provide.
I am also very much a family man, with a wonderfully supportive wife and two teenage boys. With my workaholic tendencies, this leaves very little time for anything else (although I am a keen Formula 1 and tennis watcher!)
