The Deposit Protection Service (DPS)

The Deposit Protection Service (DPS) keeps deposit money safe for letting agents, landlords and tenants. Their free Custodial scheme is fast and efficient, having provided deposit protection since April 2007, thereby making the DPS the home of deposit protection. For over 98% of tenancies, letting agents, landlords and tenants agree how the deposit should be divided between them and the repayment process runs smoothly. Unfortunately, for a small number of cases they can’t agree. Don’t worry! The DPS free Dispute Resolution Service is there to help. The DPS are authorised by the Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government to provide tenancy deposit protection in England and Wales.
